Is It Necessary?

A surgeon asked a patient,
"Could you afford an operation if I thought it was necessary?"

The patient answered,
"Would you think it was necessary if I couldn't afford one?" 

Psychiatrist to office nurse:
 "Please just say 'we're terribly busy,' not it's a madhouse."
